Can I take my wrapped car through a car wash?

Most vehicle wraps can be taken through car washes just like any painted vehicle. However, like with many paint jobs, vehicle wraps can also be damaged by car washes.  We recommend hand washing your car if possible with soap and water. If you use the correct aftercare products it’s usually very quick and easy to wash your car as the dirt doesn’t tend to stick to the vinyl as much as it would the paint.
If you do feel the need to use the car wash take care around any exposed edges and/or seams. A branded polish specific for your vinyl or a ceramic coating is recommended to extend the life of your wrap. These products can be purchased from us.

Aftercare/Cleaning of your new wrap:

We ensure all of our customers walk out of our doors completely satisfied with their vehicle and are fully educated about caring for their new car wrap. It takes very little time to properly maintain a vinyl wrap, and if you do, you will extend the life of the vinyl and be rewarded for the years to come.

Utilising the aftercare products specifically designed for your brand of vinyl (these can be purchased through us) will keep your vehicle looking new for years to come! However, like the normal factory paintwork on a vehicle, a vinyl wrap still needs washing on a regular basis to keep away all the potential pollutants, resulting in a longer-lasting and more vibrant vinyl wrap.

For those wanting to take the look of their new vinyl wrap to the next level we also offer ceramic coating. This product forms a permanent adhesion to the vinyl giving it a superior shine and has a phenomenal hydrophobic effect that helps to keep your car cleaner for longer and makes washing the car a breeze. This product only needs to be applied once and does not wear off, making it a cost effective long term solution for protecting your car.

How long will it take to install a vinyl wrap on my vehicle?

This will always depend on the shape of the vehicle, the condition of the paintwork on the vehicle and the design you choose. Always make sure to ask about your vehicle, as every job is different. Generally a full colour change vinyl wrap will take anywhere from 5-8 days.

How long will a vinyl wrap last?

Here at Wrapped On Vinyl we only supply and use premium "cast" wrapping films that are specially designed for conforming and adhering to all painted surfaces of a vehicle. Providing all aftercare instructions are followed, your vinyl wrap should last up to the maximum recommended time, as per below:
Majority of colours (e.g. Gloss & Satin) = Up to 10 years
Textured films (e.g. brushed, carbon fibre) = 3-5 years

Will removing a vinyl wrap damage my vehicle?

Applying specialist vehicle wrapping film to your vehicle will not damage your paintwork if done correctly.

On the flip-side, removing vinyl that has been correctly installed and looked after, on a factory-painted vehicle within 3 years of the install will leave no damage to the underlying paint work. However If your vehicle already had stone chips, abrasions or rust patches on your paintwork before the vinyl was installed it’s important to remember that when it is removed some loose paint may be removed with it.

If you have a vinyl wrap that was installed by another company, we are still able to remove it for you. We will take every precaution to remove the old vinyl with minimal damage, after all, we want the chance to re-wrap it for you! However, as you can understand after reading through the list above, we assume no responsibility for the condition of the vehicle once the vinyl has been removed.

How much will it cost to remove a vinyl wrap?

Pricing for removals is charged out by time and is dependant upon the size of the job and the condition of the vinyl. Obviously these factors vary for each job depending on when and how the vinyl was installed. For a quote on the removal of your current vinyl wrap or signage, we ask that you bring your vehicle to our Wrapped on Vinyl workshop so we can have a look at it and provide you with an accurate price.

Why is a Full Wrap more beneficial than a Partial Wrap?

Full wraps cover most or all of the paint on a vehicle whilst partial wraps cover only a portion of the vehicle and for this reason a full wrap is able to protect the entire vehicle.

This becomes important when the vinyl is removed as sun fading and scratches can become more prominent on the unprotected paint on panels that were unwrapped in comparison to the protected paint from underneath the vinyl. This can often be seen on two-tone vehicle wraps where one half of the vehicle was wrapped and the other half has been left as the factory paint on the vehicle. Upon removing the vinyl, sun-fading can be quite noticeable and the paint is no-longer the same colour as the paint from underneath the vinyl.

What are the benefits of vehicle wrapping?

There are several benefits of having a vinyl wrap installed on your vehicle. Firstly it looks fantastic and can give your car a fresh new personalised look. Secondly when the vinyl is removed, for example when you want to sell your vehicle, it is restored to its original colour without losing any value because the entire time the vehicle has been wrapped it has been protected from scratches and UV rays. If a brand new vehicle is wrapped, it leaves brand new factory paint on the vehicle and come the time of re-sale, after it is removed the paint still looks brand new making you money in the long run!

Will any parts be removed from my vehicle during a vinyl wrap installation?

Yes, within reason. We always try and remove any parts that are necessary to get complete coverage of the vehicle so that the vinyl wrap represents a paint job to the closest extent possible. We do this because we do not install vinyl on your vehicle and then just cut around the trim work etc on your vehicle as this leaves unnecessary potential lifting points and problem areas down the track. Instead, if possible we carefully remove those parts of your vehicle that can be safely and easily removed, install the vinyl and then reinstall trim pieces, aerials etc over the top of the vinyl for a neat, lasting installation.
